Video Games / Shovel Knight
« on: February 15, 2017, 05:29:22 PM »
Had a blast playing this game. Shovel Knight was just the right amount of nostalgia with a mix of modern. I'm loving the DLC content they are creating making each new character feel each like a separate game. Plague of Shadows kicked my ass a few times. Well done Yacht Club.

Movies/TV / Which Star Trek is better?
« on: February 06, 2017, 10:16:37 AM »
Recently rewatched The Next Generation and finally watched Voyager. I enjoyed TNG better as I felt it had better character development and more relatable.

Enterprise was also enjoyable too bad it was canceled.

What's your favorite?

I'm excited about this. Looks to be browser based, with eventual desktop builds. Everyone is pissed about the subscriptions as well.

Video Games / Super Mario Odyssey
« on: January 17, 2017, 04:56:42 PM »
I am looking forward to the new open world as Mario 64 had. To date I think 64 is my favorite. This new Mario Odyssey has some strange ideas such as realistic humans side by side with Mario,, it stands out as offputting, but we shall see. The graphics and game engine look nice. Mario's new hat trick seems interesting. I'm a bit upset that everything in Mario has to have a face or come to life. Can't it just be a powerup without a life force?

Currently writing the story and game design of a new project. Hush hush - it's a 2D platformer with elements of Mega Man. Hopefully I can share some ideas along the way.

General BS / Merry Christmas 2016
« on: December 27, 2016, 09:20:38 AM »
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. As I get older I've come to realize it's not about getting gifts, but giving. Lame, but true as it was so much fun watching my kids open their gifts and playing with them.

On that note what did you get?

Movies/TV / Rogue One
« on: December 19, 2016, 05:23:04 PM »
I am not a huge fan of Star Wars, but the Force Awakens and Rogue One are one of the better ones I've seen in a while. This standalone movie was just the right blend of action and comedy.. go figure. The premise of a movie based on how the Death Star plans were obtained sounded dumb, but I was impressed. Who else liked this movie?

Anime / Full Metal Alchemist
« on: December 12, 2016, 12:26:12 PM »
The animation, story, humor is all on point. I started this series the worst way possible, by watching the movie Fullmetal Alchemist Conqueror of Shamballa first. I enjoyed this movie so much it got me into the series. Ed and Al are brothers and by using alchemy to bring back their dead mother things change for the worst. Ed loses an arm and leg and Al loses his body completely. With quick thinking on Ed's part he was able to seal Al's sole to a suit of armor. Now they are on a mission to return to their normal bodies by way of the Philosophers Stone.

There is so much with this series that I can see why they recreated it for Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. A more faithful representation of the manga. I've seen both these series and while the beginning is almost verbatim, these stories are vastly different.

Who else is a fan of this series?

Anime / Unico in the Island of Magic
« on: December 12, 2016, 10:28:10 AM »
Ok for years I had been searching for the title of this anime. I remember watching this as a kid on the Disney Channel, but had no idea what it was. I forgot all about this anime. Years later for some reason it popped back into my head. I was searching sites trying to find it going off only what I could remember. I remembered there were a brother and sister, and witch that had her brother under a spell. They were at some mystic island or another realm that they traveled to in search of her brother. There was this giant robot on wheels chasing this little girl. The robot would scream and breathe fire.

Now this memory is horrible, but I was going off that. I posted to different sites trying to find the name of the anime. I finally gave up after literally a few years here and there looking. It wasn’t until I went to a book store and found a book that had different cover art for various anime’s. I was flipping through it, and there it was, Unico. I had found the title of the anime. I saw the robot in the book and instantly knew this was it. I had to buy this book, and then buy the anime. I had left out quite a lot, like the fact there was a unicorn and that people turned into puppets.

Anime / Tank Police
« on: December 12, 2016, 10:25:05 AM »
Tank Police was an anime to remember, I had only seen parts of it here and there, then I finally rented it and umm, copied a version for myself. The only problem was the VCR tape I used was too short, and cut off the ending of the series for me. So for the longest time I never knew how it ended ha ha.

Anime / Ranma 1/2
« on: December 12, 2016, 10:22:52 AM »
You either love it or hate it. With it’s love triangle upon love triangles, wacky situations, and even crazier characters this has to be one of the funniest anime I have seen. I am talking about Ranma ½. The title along isn’t the only thing that’s strange about this series. I started watching this series sometime during high school. I didn’t see it in order though, I saw parts of episodes from seasons 2 and 3, then some parts of the movies, then OAV series. So I started in the middle and worked my way to the beginning. Watching it out of order was interesting to say the least. Who is this? What is that? What just happened? Why is that funny? Even with all the questions I had I was hooked.

I would spend hours drawing the different characters, and watching the episodes over and over to get the style right. My friends and I would try to get our hands on any new episodes, or go out of town to rent more. Talk about addiction. Once we had the episodes we would do an all nighter, watch the new, then the old, then the new again. Mainly because we were recording the episodes for everyone with the VCR. The video had to be returned the next day. Ahh good time. Now on with the show.

Movies/TV / Duck Tales 2017
« on: December 09, 2016, 09:57:15 AM »
I've read there is a new Duck Tales series being developed. I wonder who will voice Scrooge McDuck now that Alan Young has passed away. I've always been a fan of Duck Tales. Who else is excited for this?

My wife and I used to play this daily, not I don't even have it installed after a year or so of work on it. I think I got bored of it.
