Another Update
Well, it is that time again: updates!
We know it looks like we're not doing much to the site, but in fact we were busy adding some new
features - some visible to all users and a few to the admin controls and it's time to put these
out.
This biggest change is the ability for signed-in users to comment on almost all content that we
have on the site: articles, tutorials, images, etc. This way you can tell us what you think, whether
you like or dislike something or you can just flood the site with unitelligble gibberish. (In which
case make sure you also speak fluent Ukrainian to be able to communicate with our 'cleaning' crew.)
For now, comments cannot be paged - all comments for an article are shown on the bottom, but later
on we'll have that too, along with some other (secret) goodies.
We're also working on a voting system (similar to how it works on YouTube or IMDB) - it's almost done
but we didn't want to delay this patch any more. Plus, this way we can have another round of updates
with news, etc.
On an unrelated note, our game is coming along nicely. We wanted to
release it already but unfortunately Flash is simply unable to handle graphics - at least when they
need to be shown on the screen - and it had several ugly artifacts during gameplay. We ended up writing
our own renderer that performs almost 20 times faster than the Flash rendering pipeline. This also made
hit testing not work in Flash and we're in the process of rewriting that now. If everything goes well, we
can release the game sometimes at the end of this week or maybe early next week.
Also check out some of the new content added to the Tutorials and
Rants section of our site. Keep an eye out for more content and possible
a new game by next week.
That's about it for now. Enjoy our site, and tell us what you think of it, be it good or bad,
through our Contact Us page or visiting us on the
forums. Be sure to mention us to your friends, too.
P.S.: Mental note - when deploying changes to a website, make sure all DLLs are copied as well. The
ones missing do have an effect on the usability of the site.
